Jean Lave, Etienne Wenger and communities of practice
http://www.infed.org/biblio/communities_of...
The idea that learning involves a deepening
process of participation in a community of
practice has gained significant ground in recent
years. Communities of practice have also become an

In this article we outline the theory and practice

efficiency. But corporations that want to use the
web strategically to build corporate value will

they may also need to master a new vocabulary with
terms such as Wikis, Weblogs, and RSS. What will

The Social Use of Information
http://www.firstmonday.org/issues/issue5_4...
Arguing elegantly for the important role that
human sociability plays in the world of bits this
book gives us an optimistic look beyond the
simplicities of information and individuals.
The authors show how a better understanding of the
contribution that communities, organizations, and
institutions make to learning, knowledge, and
judgement can lead to the richest possible use of
technology in our work and everyday lives.
