i am planning to buy a game System (i all ready have a wii) and i don't want to spend all of that money on a ps3. should i wait or should i go?
Wait for the PS3, even though odds are the PS3 won't drop for another few months.
PS3:
ONLINE - The online for the PS3 works perfectly great. It is not as great as Xbox Live but I rarely see much of a difference between them. The online gaming is also free on the PS3.
SYSTEM - The technology used to build the PS3 is the best of the best. It has literally no technical problems whatsoever. The system uses blu-ray technology and supports bluetooth. The fan also does run quieter then the 360's. The PS3 also supports 1080p HD and HDMI 1.3a. The system also has an average life span of around 10-15 years.
PS3 SYSTEMS -
20GB has 4USB ports, no Wifi, no media card readers, and is no longer avaliable (can be found used) and it is backwards compatible.
40GB has 2USB ports, Wifi enabled, no media card readers, and is no longer avaliable (can be found used) but isn't backwards compatible.
60GB has 4USB ports, Wifi enabled, media card readers, and is no longer avaliable (can be found used) and it is backwards compatible.
80GB MGS4 Bundle has 4USB ports, Wifi enabled, media card readers, and is no longer avaliable (can actually be found new and used on the internet, i.e. Ebay) and it is backwards compatible.
80GB ( 2nd version) has, 2USB ports, Wifi enabled, no media card readers, is avaliable in stores but isn't backwards compatible.
160GB (on sale november 30th) has 2USB ports, Wifi enabled, no media card readers, and isn't not backwards compatible.
GAMES - From my opinion, I find the games on the PS3 to attract more attention. Sometime within the next 2 years the PS3 is going to be the top of the market system with the top games ( some current good and games and some coming soon:Resistance 1 and 2, Socom Confrontation, Quantum Theory, God of War 3, Killzone 2, Little Big Planet, etc.). Also being the games are being made on Blu-ray discs, they are A LOT more durable than any other games discs available and can store more information.
PRICE - The prices on the PS3's range from $399-$499 (although the systems that sold for $499 are no longer available in many stores-the 160GB will be on sale for $499).
Xbox 360:
ONLINE - The online for the 360 is pretty much the best online available, but like I previously said there isn't really a big noticeable difference between the 360 and PS3. The only negative to Xbox Live is you have to pay for membership to play it ($7 a month or $50 a year depending on which subscription you purchase).
SYSTEM - The Xbox 360 system is not built as well as the PS3 is. There have been multiple system errors which do include rapid overheating and the RROD (red ring of death, once this occurs the system cannot be fixed). The reason for this is because the Xbox 360 was rushed onto the market too early. When they found out that Sony and Nintendo had finished their systems in early 2006 they picked up on production so the release would be around the same time (done for marketing purposes).
XBOX SYSTEMS - There are 3 systems avaliable, The Arcade Version, Pro, and the Elite. The only difference is basically the amount of HD space.
GAMES - There are some good games out for the 360. There's Halo 3, Gears of War 1 and 2, Left for Dead, Fable 2, etc. Even though most games are released on both systems I find the 360 library to be more limited.
PRICES - The Arcade system was recently lowered to $199 but does not include the HD. The 60GB Pro currently costs $299, and the current price of the Elite is $399.
So I would recommend the PS3 but in the end it's your choice. If you have any more questions concerning these systems feel free to contact me.
P.S. - there are a lot of rumors that for the PS3 you need to have a specific t.v., well it is not true. The PS3 works on any t.v. that can attach A.V. cables to them. One other rumor is about the graphics, the graphics are pretty much the same on the PS3 and the 360 so don't let anyone else tell you otherwise. One more rumor about the PS3 is that they have overheating problems, which is not true. The cooling system is extremely advanced and I have never herd of a case of a PS3 actually overheating.
There is also one important issue that most people don't take into account. People say that if you buy the 360 it will save you money, well yes and no. If you buy the Elite then your not saving anything whatsoever. If you buy the Arcade or Pro you do save some money in the BEGINNING. You need to remember that you do have to pay $50 a year to play online on the 360 while the PS3 costs nothing. So if you add it up after a few years your actually using more money on the 360 than the PS3.
