Compete.com Blog » Google V...e Video and Blog are surging
http://blog.compete.com/2007/02/20/google-...
Jeremy, interesting analysis. I’m wondering if
you could compare Froogle against Amazon.com and
other retailers to see how they have done against
each other over the last year. My point is that
when people think “web search” they go to
Google…and I feel like “product search” is
in many ways now Amazon.com (and to a lesser
extent secondary markets like eBay or craigslist).

WhosOnMyPage - MySpace Tracker that Works?
http://mashable.com/2007/02/13/whosonmypag...
Pete, this is totally lame. All views are
“anonymous” unless you have the toolbar
installed. Doesn’t that defeat the whole purpose
of the MySpace tracker - to spy on who’s
checking out your profile without any
intervention/knowledge on their part? They are
hedging way too much on people installing a
toolbar (and assuming that you need Firefox, you
just cut out 85-90% of the market - even young
people use IE unless they are geeks/early
adopters).

Micro Persuasion: America’s New Digital Divide
http://www.micropersuasion.com/2006/12/ame...
agree with Eric’s thoughts. Not everyone
wants to share content (text, photos, video, etc.)
online. I’m definitely a techy but even in
my case, I like social bookmarking (on BlinkList)
for the easy access knowledge sharing it offers me
and not because I like to see what others are
doing.
RSS is a different story - I agree with you on it
being extremely useful yet vastly underutilized
right now. But it is a passive technology. It
doesn’t require you to do anything once

Micro Persuasion: A Year Lat...ill Don’t Interoperate
http://www.micropersuasion.com/2006/12/a_y...
This is really annoying! It seems like most 20
somethings have gmail, which makes gchat a no
brainer. But AIM has been a standard so long. They
need to resolve their differences and allow us to
commuicate across platforms.

WPNI Blogroll Blog
http://adv.washingtonpost.com/blogroll/200...
One idea that would be interesting is if you guys
had a “localized” category for the
blogroll too. This might include individuals,
businesses, and other bloggers who are located in
the greater Washington D.C. area. I’d
imagine you could cross pollinate them into other
categories (e.g., technology, culture, etc.) but
considering many of us use the paper to find local
events and other D.C. happenings, that could add
some real value.

Techcrunch » Blog Archive ...ocal Papers Save Each Other?
http://www.techcrunch.com/2006/11/20/can-y...
Marshall, I think it’s a bit too early to be
thinking game over or ‘too late’ with this
deal. The fact of the matter is many people still
don’t even know what a blog is (I’m in
meetings all the time where that is the case).
It’s great that some sites get blogging and have
mobile access but at the end of the day simply
having original content is still the most
important piece of the equation.

GigaOM » The Treadmill Difference
http://gigaom.com/2006/10/22/the-treadmill...
Tom, good thing I consider all those things.
I’ve been doing this sort of work for close to
eight years now (even while in school). It’s not
a science of course because it’s still all so
new (relative to other professions and
industries). I also don’t claim to have the buck
stop with me when it comes to the subject. But I
do consider myself as qualified as the next guy or
gal - and that is based on the results of my work,
my background/education, and the readership I have
on my ow…

GigaOM » The Treadmill Difference
http://gigaom.com/2006/10/22/the-treadmill...
Haha…old fart difference. Doesn’t apply for a
25-year old or all his friends who only got wind
of them (OK Go) with their treadmill stunt…which
was sort of the point.
Media Temple really is doing something different
here. And while I have heard of them in the past,
I’m definitely much more interested in
recommending them to clients with this offering.
I’m not the only one who is excited about what
they are doing. Just do a simple search of the
blogosphere.

Web Worker Daily » Blog Arc... Calendar With Your Phone «
http://webworkerdaily.com/2006/10/15/sync-...
I’ve been using GCal Sync with my phone (Nokia
E61) for about a month. It’s a must have There
were some recent updates that supposedly fixed
some timezone issues but I haven’t gotten the
chance to download the new software.
I actually use about four different Google
Calendars I created for the different parts of my
life. But in order to have all events sync up on
my phone, I just copy them over to the main
calendar and then hide them on an individual
basis.
It’s a great tool…

Geeking with Greg: Google Reader redesigns
http://glinden.blogspot.com/2006/10/google...
Hey Greg, you obviously know that I support
Findory…but I simply can’t think about
it as a Feed Reader…especially not a Feed
Reader of choice. Not without having the things
I’m accustomed to using.
At a bare minimum, I’d like to see my OPML
categorization (i.e., folders) kept when I import.
In accordance to that, it would be nice to have
the ability to click on the top level folder and
see all items not only in the River of News style
but using the intelli…

Josh…thanks for taking the time to share
this info. I’ve put many of these things in
place for our upcoming The New New Internet
Conference here in D.C. but it’s good to
feel reinforced by an expert Conference Blogger
like yourself…plus I definitely picked up a
couple of new tricks to put in my bag
;-)…thanks!
