A site dedicated to showing off non-click interfaces that actually work. Why click when it's not neccessary? :) All web designers should take a look at this. Too bad it's written in sucky non-standards-compliant Flash
This page illustrates that our visual perception cannot always be trusted. The components of an object can distort the perception of the complete object. Our mind is the final arbiter of truth. Most optical illusions are the result of 1) incongruent design elements at opposite ends of parallel lines, 2) influence of background patterns on the overall design, 3) adjustment of our perception at the boundaries of areas of high contrast, 4) afterimages resulting from eye movements or from kinetic displays, or 5) inability to interpret the spatial structure of an object from the context provided by the picture.
Absolutely terrific font resource with hundreds, if not thousands, of free fonts. Highly recommended!!!

The emerge toolkit is a web application development framework for the 21st century. The server is written in C#, and currently runs on MS .NET. We use the wonderful dojo toolkit on the client. Our goal is to reduce the clutter when developing AJAX-style web applications. The experience of writing an emergetk application feels like writing a desktop application, with state preservation, widgets, events and handlers, and so forth. It accomplishes what ASP.NET does, but without using any viewstate. We support - without enforcing - MVC style development. Since this is a well understood pattern, we will address each of the three components below. Emergetk is currently released under the General Public License (GPL).
Cheap deal for new developers starting out with MS technologies. For $375 you pretty much get the whole enchilada of software from Microsoft, pre-paid and usable by 5 individual developers. That includes Visual Studio and MSDN Premium!
Site that matches you up with a new person every week. There's no standard profile questions involved - everything is down to you and your possible friend-to-be to sort out with messages. The idea is to introduce you to people on a semi-random basis. A novel idea, and one that I'm sure will be copied over, over and over again. 5 stars for novelty and ingenuity.

With today‘s .NET enterprise applications approximately 30% to 50% of the code is dedicated to data access with ADO .NET on relational databases. The object oriented interface of Vanatec OpenAccess slashes this amount of data access code significantly by closing the gap between object oriented design and relational database systems. Stop Hacking.
Google Web Toolkit (GWT) is a Java software development framework that makes writing AJAX applications like Google Maps and Gmail easy for developers who don't speak browser quirks as a second language. Writing dynamic web applications today is a tedious and error-prone process; you spend 90% of your time working around subtle incompatabilities between web browsers and platforms, and JavaScript's lack of modularity makes sharing, testing, and reusing AJAX components difficult and fragile.
There are two ways you can utilize resources such as strings, images, and text-based files from your Microsoft® .NET Framework-based application. You can embed them directly in the app or you can load them from an external file. When you choose to load from an external source rather than from an embedding resource, you must distribute the files along with the assembly. You must also make sure that code inside the application can determine the correct path and load the resource files at run time. This approach causes problems if the .exe ever becomes separated from the files it depends upon.<br /> <br /> Taking the embedded option and compiling the resources you need directly into the assemblies that use them makes distribution more reliable and less error prone. This month I will discuss the use of resources, how and why you might embed a resource, and the role of resource files in .NET.
utobench is a simple Perl script for automating the process of benchmarking a web server (or for conducting a comparative test of two different web servers). The script is a wrapper around httperf. Autobench runs httperf a number of times against each host, increasing the number of requested connections per second on each iteration, and extracts the significant data from the httperf output, delivering a CSV or TSV format file which can be imported directly into a spreadsheet for analysis/graphing.<br /> <br /> Also included in the autobench tarball is a short program 'crfile' that can be used to generate files of arbitrary lengths, filled with random characters.
The Yahoo! User Interface (YUI) Library is a set of utilities and controls, written in JavaScript, for building richly interactive web applications using techniques such as DOM scripting, DHTML and AJAX. The YUI Library also includes several core CSS resources. All components in the YUI Library have been released as open source under a BSD license and are free for all uses. Download the entire library, its documentation and examples from Sourceforge.

he find_tagged_with method that comes with the acts_as_taggable plugin is not suitable for… much of anything. Specifically, you can’t use it with a paginator, as you can’t pass LIMIT or OFFSET parameters.

Really cheap hosting provider that provides servers with *UBUNTU* !!! Cool :)
When a file is uploaded, there’s more involved than just the data inside the file. You might be interested in the filename and the content-type as well.
Rich text (WYSIWYG) editing on the web is a difficult problem. Browser-based rich text editors to date have failed to meet users stability expectations or in other ways subtly break the seamlessness of the editing experience. The Dojo Editor widget, written by Paul Sowden and David Schontzler, provides a solution to these problems in an easy-to-integrate package.
The following is a compilation of all of the AJAX toolkits and frameworks that I have either reviewed or have first hand experience with and would recommend. It seem like a new AJAX toolkit or framework has come out every week or so since the term AJAX was coined a little over a year ago. As a designer and developer I find these tools invaluable in the process of rapid web development.
I went milling about for source for progress bars that would be suitably embedded within a Ruby on Rails application I'm working on and came up with nada. Sure, sure there are lots of bars that have to do with live uploading and whatnot but nothing that grabbed me with the interface I was looking for (call function, return data).
This library makes handling of uploaded files in Ruby on Rails as easy as it should be. It helps you to not repeat yourself and write the same file handling code all over the place while providing you with nice features like keeping uploads during form redisplays, nice looking URLs for your uploaded files and easy integration with RMagick to resize uploaded images and create thumb-nails. Files are stored in the filesystem and the filename in the database.
Capistrano is a standalone utility that can also integrate nicely with Rails. You simply provide Capistrano with a deployment “recipe” that describes your various servers and their roles, and voila! You magically have single-command deployment. It even allows you to roll a bad version out of production and revert back to the previous release.<br /> <br /> It should be stated that the concepts that Capistrano uses and encourages are not specific to Rails, or even Ruby. They are common-sense practices that are applicable to a variety of environments. In fact, you’ll find that there is very little that is Rails-specific about Capistrano, aside from the fact that it is in Rails that it found its genesis. No matter where you are or what environment you are using, Capistrano can probably help ease your deployment pains.
This guy made a graphical representation of the prototype library, which really helps explain the whole thing!
This is a Rails Engine version of the Salted Login Generator, a most excellent login system which is sufficient for most simple cases.
