pages during time consuming activities, a very
useful behaviour especially during long processing
tasks, in order to inform the user that something
is actually happening. Typical time consuming
tasks are file uploads, complex queries against

code, or heavy pages which require some time to be
rendered by the browser.

There are many implementations available in the
ASP.NET framework to display tabular data. Most of
them send the content of the table to the client
as a part of the page including all the other
parts of the page. If it comes to mass data
situations the implementations offer a mechanism
to navigate through pages containing a smaller set
of the records and sending the whole page again
and again.

to provide features to ASP.NET that usually can
only be done by using DHTML, JScript or JavaScript
and Client Callbacks (or AJAX.Net, Remote
Scripting, JSRS and so on) but without forcing the
