If you want to start with Rails but want a real life example of Rails application, Doug Pfeffer has released the code for his site PointFingers. Recently a visitor to PointFingers.com suggested I make the Ruby on Rails source code public, as a resource for other people interested in the framework. I thought that was a nice idea, so I cleaned up the code, added some comments, and uploaded it here. I'm also interested in any feedback you might have on my code, such as style tips or other improvements. I'll post any input I receive here. Anyway, on to the code. Good initiative, we say T.

Last year turned out to be a busy year for M&A activity in the technology sector. So, we've compiled a comprehensive list of all of the mergers and acquisitions in the web, social networking, technology, internet advertising, hardware, software, mapping, and gaming industries. We've tried to provide an overview of the blog/media/press coverage for each acquisition and we've linked to the official press release where available. Stay tuned for some upcoming posts that take a closer look at some of the acquisitions from an analysis perspective. An interesting trend that we've noticed, specifically in the web/internet/social networks spaces, is that smaller acquisitions in the $5-20 Million range are happening much more frequently than in the past. This is likely because acquirers are snapping up startups before they raise substantial capital, making the acquisitions much less costly and providing the ability to do more deals.

Modern American popular music all traces back to the blues in one way or another. Guitarist and Pandora senior music analyst Bob Coons swings by the studio to talk about the blues scale, a six-note (heptonic) sequence of tones that appears in countless tracks. It's a scale that changes the feel of any song in which it appears. We show how the scale is fluid, with bending pitches and blue notes, and Bob plays some blues-inspired passages to show this scale in action. Hop onto this link here to see images of string bends, to hear examples of songs that feature the scale, and for some great blues stations.
New England 38, NY Giants 35 Preview - Box Score - Recap By BARRY WILNER, AP Football Writer December 30, 2007 New England Patriots wide receiver Randy Moss (81) celebrates with his teammate Wes Welker after catching a 65-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Tom Brady in the fourth quarter of an NFL football game at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007. Brady broke the single-season record with his 50th touchdown pass and Randy Moss broke the single-season record with his 23rd touchdown catch on the play. The Patriots defeated the Giants 38-35 to become the first team to go 16-0 in the regular season and the first since the 1972 Miami Dolphins to go through a full schedule without a loss. AP - Dec 30, 12:11 am EST More Photos EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -- Tom Brady was as giddy as the quarterback of an unbeaten and perhaps unbeatable team should be. Had Bill Belichick spotted him slapping the backs of his New England teammates, the dour coach might have scoffed. After all, a perfect 16-0 regular season won't mean much if the Patriots don't win their next three games and another Super Bowl. "We've been dealing with being undefeated all season," Brady said Saturday night after the thrilling 38-35 victory over the New York Giants in a game worthy of the NFL's championship showcase. "It was kind of a strange game. It really doesn't mean much to either team, but it means a lot." New England became the first NFL team since the 1972 Dolphins to win every game on the schedule, and that one was only 14-0. This victory required a Brady-engineered comeback from a 12-point deficit and smashed the Patriots' league mark for consecutive victories.
