BT: Take a look at MTV's "mobbed" mobile site done with Motorola. Strangely significant that the Flash intro screen shows "grafitti". Asian initial focus. We should track these big-media mobile-social efforts.

MTV Networks Asia has teamed up with Motorola to launch Mobbed, an entertainment platform that "defines, explores and celebrates mobile culture" in the APAC region. Mobbed's offerings include Motoalert, Mob Squad, Mobtage and six others. Motoalerts is an SMS alerts tool that features music downloads and news, including profiles of new artists every month. Mob Squad is an animated series made for mobile. Mobtage is a contest that awards the best MMS image a new Motorola phone and includes the image being featured on MTV. While the focus is always on "mobile culture," the platform spans television, the Internet, on-mobile and "on-ground," which I take to mean live, in-person events.

The on-air segment of Mobbed will be hosted by various local MTV VJs in the seven countries: India, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines. Although the relationship seems obvious, Nigel Robbins, president of MTV Networks APAC sums it up: "With Motorola's technology and personalization intelligence and MTV's widespread influence on youth, Mobbed will empower Asian youth to further interact in the wireless world."
