elections are rough.
elections are rough. in the same way that sports can be heartbreaking, politics is too. there are no moral victories, there is no “consensus,” at the end, one side wins and the other loses.

When is Election Day? The general election is Nov. 7. Some communities may hold special elections on Aug. 8 to decide local taxation issues. When are polls open? Polls are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. What is a general election? The general election decides who will win the office. In general one Democrat, one Republican and possibly several candidates from third parties, such as the Libertarian Party, run for offices in the general election. Local issues, such as school taxes, may also appear on the general election ballot. Who wins? In Ohio, the person with the most votes wins, even if the winner has less than 50 percent of the vote. Ohio does not have run-off elections. A coin flip usually decides ties. A majority of voters must approve other issues - 50 percent plus 1 person. A tie is a loss. What is on the ballot this year? All Ohioans will vote for governor, U.S. senator, U.S. representative, Ohio senator, Ohio representative, county commissioner, county auditor and some judicial offices. Local issues, ranging from municipal taxes to local liquor options may also appear on the ballot in your precinct.
Stewart has pointed out Scandals before, now he points out how the politicians try to justify the fact that there are so many scandals... it's an election year. "I've been crooked for 20 years"

Hey ! In my LC (Manizales-Colombia) we are running the elction process for the 2007 EB term!!, yupi!, i'm applying for LCVP S&OR (sales and organizational relationships) which involves a challenge i'm willing to take bearing one top priority in mind:C L A R I T YIt might sound silly or understated.... but i think it's something that has to be stated, we NEED to have clarity, absolute clarity on every corporate relation we have. period. When you have clarity on your compromises you can keep them, if you keep your comitments you gain trust, and if an organization such as @ has those two things (clarity+trust) then its entitled to get GOODWILL. Every quality corporate relationship has to have goodwill otherwise it won't prosper, or at least not on the way we expect it to. Along with top quality service (client orientation), investment partners, training, ALUMNI relationships and (last but definitely not least) Sales realizations, will be my focus points if I have the oportunity be LCVP S&OR.I will upload my application form in this post, check it out and I will be realy thankfull to recieve feedback from you.Thank you!PD: I will also try, on a more personal note, to remove the S from S&OR, i think that we will be better off without it, just Organizational Relationships: That is our focus: Obtaining and Mantaining good quality healthy Organizational Relationships. A person can SELL shoes, AIESEC delivers talent based on ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS.k.
elections for the national council were held yesterday, 1 october 2006, in austria. the elections were held for the parliament, the legislative power of the republic of austria.some background.austria elects on national level a head of state (the president) and a legislature. the president, currently heinz fischer, is elected for a six year term by the people - www.hofburg.at.the parliament (in german = "parlament") has two chambers: the national council (german = "nationalrat") has 183 members, elected for a four year term by proportional representation. the politically less significant federal council (german = "bundesrat") has 64 members, elected from five to six year by the provincial parliaments. the 2006 legislative election. Austria's Social Democrats scored a narrow upset victory over the ruling conservatives in a national election on Sunday that also brought a surge of rightist parties demanding a crackdown on immigrants. The outcome suggested Chancellor Wolfgang Schuessel's campaign emphasis on staying a course of business-friendly tax cuts and playing up his image as a safe pair of hands stumbled on discontent over widening income gaps and Muslim immigration."People in Austria believe that we are a rich and wealthy country, but not everything is distributed evenly," Social Democrat leader Alfred Gusenbauer said on Austrian state TV ORF. "And therefore people want a correction."The Social Democrats gained 35.7 percent according to preliminary results, almost 1 percent behind their finish in the last elections in 2002. But Schuessel's People's Party fell to 34.2 percent from 42.3 percent four years ago.Gusenbauer is expected to be asked by President Heinz Fischer to form the next government and will probably seek a "grand coalition" with Schuessel's conservatives.A grand coalition, the combination which ruled Austria for 34 of 61 years after World War Two, would likely mark the end of Schuessel's career in domestic politics, said Anton Pelinka, professor for political science. The People's Party, for which Schuessel had won back the chancellorship through a controversial coalition with Haider in 2000, lost voters to all major parties, and many of them did not bother to vote at all.(extract from www.cnn.com)
