This is where I am currently studying. I don't know what other people generally do, but at the moment I don't have a primary study place. Sometimes at night I study in the hub in either the advisors' office or (when I'm feeling nostalgic) the aiesec office - it's usually nice and quiet once all the day staff have left and there are few distractions. It's a nice change from trying to block out Australian Idol (mum loves that show). Sometimes I study in my office at home; at the moment it's not really an office as it has a bed and a whole lot of crap in it, but I've set it up to be a somewhat productive place.
See that dual monitor display? Our library recently liquidated a whole lot of 'old' used computers - no warranty, but good working order. I think the upgrade cycle is 18 months. They opened up a whole bunch of LCDs, CPUs, printers, etc to staff, and I put my name down for an LCD. If there are say 40 printers and 30 people put their hands up, then everyone gets one but if there are more requests than machines a lottery is conducted. Lucky for me I got it and yesterday I paid $55 for a 15" LCD. Walking out of the library with a monitor under my arm felt a little strange! So, here I've set up a dual monitor display using my brother's laptop. I'd like to think it will make me more efficient...
