Coming back to Michigan, my hometown, we visited Eric's family starting with his mother in Lansing. I finally met his brother Jacob who lived in Korea and is married to one, Julia and has a cute adorable babe, Erin. As it is my last visit to the family, Eric and I thought of making it special, thus first we cooked an appetizer of Falfel, hommos, labneh with zeet and zaatar and halloumi cheese fried... later the afternoon, Laural joined us and at night we had an Arabic bbq, some grilled fresh vegetables which Eric's mom grows, and the very best corn which we picked up on our way here... (that was the sweetest most delicious corn I have ever had in my WHOLE life) the BBQ was Amazing and very enjoyed being with the whole family...
The next day, we drove up North to Alpena where Eric's dad lives. We spend about 4 days there btw family gathering at Rosa's restaurant, and Korean/Arabic bbq at the house.
We also took a trip to Mackinac Island (pronounced like mackinaw) where a ferry is the only way to get there. We then rented a tandem which we drove around the island. The island is famous for its fudge which for me, I'd prefer a molten chocolate cake on simply as the fudge is so RICH n u can barely eat a small piece in a while except for Amber and Penny who ate the WHOLE thing while watching a movie:P
After coming back from North, we stayed in Ann Arbor for a while where I visited the office and spent time with friends. I also went for a baseball match, my first, which I learned its techniques while having lunch in an Arabic cuisine with Eric. The lady in front of us in the stadium was impressed with my cheering and knowledge esp as its ma first. (Got a cute yellowish t-shirt with blue symboles for detroit's team)
My last day in Ann Arbor, Eric, Amber and I went for lunch/dinner in East Lansing with Eric's family (Laural, Jacob and his mom) and Ashley (Laural's friend). Then we went for really good icecream before our farewells. God, it's always hard to say goodbye esp to Amber, Laural and Shweta. Amber has always been the friend treating me to those special occassions in the American Calendar. She has always been there to listen, and we've spent time pincnicing, talking about our lives and driving to places such as to Saint Joseph for the July 4th celebration. Whereas Laural has always been the sweet caring sister that would always make sure i'm comfortable in any particular situations. She made life much easier. As to my dear roommate, Shweta, I honestly enjoyed every single day we've spent together. She has been by far the best roommate i've had in Michigan (not forgetting my other best roommate Muna). IF it wasn't for her, life would have been much more harder.
With this day ... was my last of enjoying Ann Arbor and Michigan.... God I miss it now so much...
PS. on our way back from Mackinac Island, we passed by a village.... check the name out ;)
